The SV series binoculars from Kowa are the perfect balance of optimal performance and lightweight, ergonomic design. High-quality BAK-4 phase-corrected glass prisms and Japanese ECO glass lenses with full multi-layer coating provide a crisp, clear image with excellent detail. The special Kowa KR coating of the eyepieces and lenses reduces the risk of minor scratches and has water-repellent properties. The lightweight, ergonomic body of the Kowa SV 8x25 WP binoculars is equipped with a protective rubber coating, is waterproof and filled with dry nitrogen. The body design allows the binocular tubes to be folded in the central position. Thus, the binoculars become so compact that they fit into almost any pocket of clothing or compartment of a backpack.
Kowa Repelling ( KR ) Coating is a multifunctional coating specially developed for Kowa SV and Kowa YF binoculars. It is applied to the outer sides of the lenses, preventing scratches and at the same time is hydrophobic. The KR coating protects the lenses from any impact of water (rain, snow, fog, splashes or direct immersion), as well as from the accumulation of dirt dissolved in water. Simply shake the binoculars vigorously after use in wet conditions, and water droplets will be removed from the outer surface of the lenses. This coating is hard enough to prevent accidental scratches from mechanical impact of low and medium force. This will allow the device to be used in more extreme conditions and at the same time maintain full functionality of the optics.
Phase Coating is a special phase-correcting coating that is applied to one of the surfaces of the prism wrapping system in the form of the thinnest layers. The cost of such a coating is very high, and the application process requires precision accuracy, so only renowned optics manufacturers can afford such technological complication. Phase correction is necessary exclusively for the Roof optical system, since, passing through such a prism, the light flux is decomposed into two parallel beams of light waves, an out-of-phase shift by half the length of the light wave occurs, which leads to a decrease in image resolution, as well as a decrease in contrast. Phase Coating corrects this shift. As a result, the image is as clear and contrasting as possible. Today, the design of a modern high-quality optical device of the Roof prism system is almost unthinkable without phase-correcting coating.

Waterproof - means that the optics are sealed with an O-ring and protected from moisture penetration according to the international class IPX7. Immersion in liquid for 30 minutes to a depth of 1 meter will not cause the slightest damage to the device and will not affect its functionality. Such optics are not afraid of any weather conditions.
Fogproof - means that the body is filled with dry nitrogen from the inside, which eliminates moisture condensation on the internal surfaces when the temperature changes. As a result, the optics do not fog up from the inside, and there is no corrosion of materials under the influence of moisture. Air is removed from the device and replaced with an inert gas (in this case, nitrogen N2), which does not contain water vapor and does not condense.
Lightweight Body - the body of the binoculars of this series is made of particularly light polycarbonate, which allowed to reduce the weight by 10-20% compared to similar models of competitors. At the same time, the balance and ergonomic characteristics of the binoculars only benefited. The device fits in the observer's hands as comfortably as possible, and the durable, combined (partly smooth, partly rough), profiled rubber coating allows you to securely fix the binoculars in your palms.
