Description
The Optika B-380 microscopes have replaced the well-proven 350 series. The Optika B-383Ph 40x-1000x Trino Phase Contrast microscope is another step towards innovation designed to make the routine work of laboratory technicians less tiring and the observation results more reliable. The main improvements affected the design, ergonomics and light. The new X-LED3 illumination system is characterized by increased power and, depending on the model, can be equipped with automatic ALC control. The basic configuration uses eyepieces with an extended field of view. A wide range of brightfield, darkfield, polarizing, phase-contrast, metallographic and fluorescence microscopes is offered based on the B-380 series. Due to the variety of models, the devices of this series can be used for various areas of professional biological and metallographic research. At the same time, the new series of Optika B-380 microscopes remains more affordable in price compared to competitors. The microscopes have a 10-year warranty!
All Optika SRL products are made in Italy. In the small town of Ponteranica (Bergamo province) Optika microscopes are developed, manufactured and assembled. Each microscope is accompanied by an individual serial number indicated on the body and in the warranty card, as well as a mark on the final quality control. All products comply with the basic requirements of the relevant European EU directives and European Union standards.
The most important characteristic of using a microscope is convenience. The development of the new series of microscopes Optika B-380 was carried out jointly with a designer who previously worked in the team of the Italian design machine-building studio Pininfarina . As is known, Pininfarina develops the design of the most advanced car bodies and interiors in the world (Ferrari, Maserati) from the point of view of aerodynamics and ergonomics. And if aerodynamics has nothing to do with microscopes, then ergonomics (ease of use) is an extremely important factor. It is this component that the famous Italian designer brought to the new series of microscopes Optika B-380, making it as comfortable as possible for long-term laboratory observations.
Phase-contrast microscopy is used to observe low-contrast transparent objects that differ from the environment only in refractive index. The principle is based on the transformation of invisible phase changes introduced by the object into amplitude changes discernible to the eye. The image becomes more contrasting, and a dark object is clearly visible against a light background. The phase-contrast method is widely used to study the internal structure of living, unstained biological objects in microbiology and cytology, and is indispensable in clinical research. It is widely used to study biological fluids of living organisms.
Dark-field microscopy is used to study smooth heterogeneities in the structure of an object that cannot be detected in a bright field. The principle is based on increasing the contrast by recording only the light scattered by the sample. A special feature of a dark-field microscope is the method of illuminating the sample, which is carried out from the side. Dark areas of the sample become luminous and clearly distinguishable against a dark background, and light areas become dark. The outer contours of the observed samples become especially distinguishable. Dark-field microscopy is used for intravital study of the external structure of unstained biological objects, heterogeneities in thin sections of minerals. Dark-field microscopy is the most important diagnostic method in hemoscanning.
Optical resolution largely depends on the correct illumination. Modern microscope optics are so perfect that it is difficult to invent something revolutionary new, while the leap in the development of LED technologies opens up wide opportunities in microscopy. Optika presents the next step in improving lighting - professional subject LED illumination X-Led3 . A highly efficient 3.6W LED creates the necessary luminous flux for full illumination of contrast samples at maximum magnification (equivalent to a 50W halogen lamp). The LED is combined with a reflector of complex geometry and a specially designed optical lens, which allows to significantly improve the intensity, homogeneity and direction of the produced light. Unlike traditional halogen lamps, the luminous flux obtained when using the X-Led3 system has a bright white glow with a color temperature of 6300K, which corresponds to natural daylight. Thus, the image is devoid of excessively yellow coloring from the light of a halogen lamp. At the same time, the LED is extremely economical compared to a halogen lamp of similar brightness, both in terms of energy consumption (it consumes 90% less energy) and in terms of service life (65,000 hours compared to 1,500 hours of operation).
Planachromat is a lens with corrected field curvature, chromatic aberration and chromatic difference in magnification. This design allows for the production of lenses of different magnifications with equally well-corrected aberrations using the same scheme. Such lenses produce a sharp and clear image across the entire field and are ideal for microphotography. In addition, wide-field eyepieces work great with such lenses.

The main advantage of this model is the wide range of applications of the microscope in the basic configuration for various microbiological studies using the bright field, dark field and phase contrast methods.
The Optika B-383Ph 40x-1000x Trino Phase Contrast microscope is equipped with plan achromatic phase-contrast objectives, which classifies it as a higher class of optical instruments and allows for fairly detailed biological research, while obtaining the highest quality photographs of samples.
The ergonomic design of the body is made in such a way as to provide maximum convenience of microscope control, shift the center of gravity to the base of the microscope and thus make the device more stable. A special hole in the body provides a convenient grip when carrying the microscope. Additionally, the convenience of observation is ensured by the tilt of the binocular attachment at an angle of 30º. The fully rotating attachment allows you to observe through the microscope from any convenient position without changing the position of the device in space. The binocular tubes rotate 360º and can be placed relative to each other at almost any angle, which makes observation convenient for people with any anatomical features of the eye position.
The LED illumination of the X-Led3 microscope is smoothly adjusted in brightness using a brightness regulator and in intensity using an iris aperture diaphragm. Specially designed 45-millimeter filters for this series of microscopes are placed in the aperture of the illuminator. A movable centerable Abbe condenser with an applied scale makes it possible to accurately transfer the light projection to the plane of the observed sample.
The trinocular configuration of the microscope allows for equally comfortable observation and documentation of research results on camera. The tube for installing a digital camera is smoothly adjustable in height, which allows, depending on the focal length of the camera, to adjust the height of the tube so that the image displayed on the screen by the digital camera is equally sharp with the image in the eyepieces.
The stage is equipped with a specimen guide and a vernier. The stage height is adjusted using the macro and micrometer focusing screws. The design includes a tension control disk for the focusing screws and a locking mechanism, which allows you to fix the microscope focused on the sample if necessary. This feature also allows for more precise focusing.
The microscope provides a wide range of magnifications from 40x to 1000x. The 40x and 100x objectives have a spring-loaded design that prevents damage to the objective or sample when the stage is raised excessively. Using the 100x OIL/WATER objective, you can forget about tedious cleaning of the optics from oil and dust, since water can be used instead of oil as an immersion liquid, with virtually no loss of resolution. To increase resolution at high magnifications, the condenser can also be used as an immersion condenser. The surface of the tubes is covered with a black anodized Type III coating that reliably resists abrasion and corrosion on the outside and does not allow unwanted reflections on the inside.
