The Bresser Biolux Advance 20x-400x USB microscope has a built-in digital camera that allows you to display an image in real time on the monitor screen and shoot images during observation. At the same time, observation can be done in the classical way through the eyepiece, while receiving high-class optical magnification. An important aspect is the presence of separately adjustable illumination with transmitted, reflective and mixed light. The German company Bresser presents a wide range of laboratory optics designed for users of different ages and skills, from the very young to professional laboratory technicians in medical and industrial laboratories.
This model is designed for school-age teenagers. The microscope allows both visual observations and documenting photo results for laboratory work. The basic magnification is quite sufficient for most initial biological observations and experiments. For more in-depth studies, the microscope can be supplemented with 15x and 20x eyepieces, thus increasing the magnification to 600x and 800x, respectively.
The monocular head is tilted at 45 degrees for easy observation.
LEDs provide illumination of the specimen with transmitted, reflected and mixed light. Transmitted light is used to observe transparent objects, reflective light is used for opaque three-dimensional objects. Using two lamps simultaneously can be useful when observing translucent specimens. It is worth noting the separate focusing for the upper and lower illumination, which allows for the highest quality lighting for correct color rendering. The brightness of the illumination, color rendering and direction of the light beam are also controlled by a diaphragm with different hole diameters and five light filters.
Additional features are provided by the built-in CMOS camera. With its help, you can watch everything that happens under the microscope lens in real time on a personal computer monitor, and you can also create and edit photos with a resolution of 640x480 in JPEG format. For more detailed work with images, a disk with Photomizer II software and camera drivers is included in the kit. At the same time, most operating systems install and detect the camera automatically. The system requirements are low: Intel Pentium IV or equivalent and higher; Windows XP SP3, Vista, 7, 1024 MB RAM, and 500 MB of hard disk space.
The microscope is powered by three of the most common AA batteries (LR6). Thus, the microscope is independent of the AC power supply and can be used even in the field.
The list of accessories includes ready-made slides, which can be examined immediately. The set also includes accessories for sample preparation, a microtome for self-preparation of samples, an incubator, and ready-made preparations. The base of the case has a tray for eyepieces or other small items that should be at hand during observation.
