Description

The Chilkoot series of large trekking backpacks from Ferrino is designed for long hikes, both on marked trails and off-tourist routes. Considering the possible large load, the backpack is made quite light, and if necessary, it can be lightened by a quarter and used as a frameless one. The internal volume can be varied using an exhaust valve. The entire suspension system is light and provides a very soft fit of the backpack on the back. The large volume of the backpack allows you to place all the necessary things inside. In winter hikes, a voluminous sleeping bag or tent can be fixed with lower compression straps, which have a large reserve of length. On the front of the backpack there are mounts for a pair of trekking poles and an ice axe. The backpack is also not deprived of pockets: two side pockets with zippers, a large front pocket with zippers, an open mesh pocket, a pocket on the waist belt and a double outer pocket with a carabiner for keys in the flap divided by a mesh partition will hold all the necessary small items. The backpack is fully adapted for a drinking system. A protective rain cover is located in the lower secret pocket. The backpack fabric also has a good water-resistant impregnation. At four points with maximum load, the structure is reinforced with the most durable Hypalon® material.

With more than a century of experience in the production of equipment for tourism, Ferrino does not rest on its laurels, continuing to dictate even higher standards of tourist equipment. For this purpose, in 1994 a special high-altitude laboratory was built to test products in real conditions. For decades, the company has been cooperating with outstanding climbers (such as Reinhold Messner), researchers, speleologists, who, using Ferrino products, conquered all the highest points of the planet, crossed 20,000 km of Antarctica on foot at extremely low temperatures down to -70 ° C, descended for 80 minutes into the very depths of the earth, into the Cueva de los Cristales cave, where at a temperature of + 58 ° C and 100% humidity a person could not previously stay for more than 20 minutes even in special equipment. Ferrino is rightfully proud of its achievements and ensures the quality and functionality of its products at the highest level.

Technical specifications:

  • Volume, l: 75
  • Weight, kg: 2.05 (1.5 kg without removable frame)
  • Dimensions, cm: 85x46x32
  • Material: Supertex® / Polyester Jaquard Weave 420D PU - wear and tear resistant, water resistant material
  • Color: Green
  • Purpose: trekking, backpacking, long mountain and plain hiking trips

Suspension and backrest system:

  • Suspension system: Air Convector Tech Back
  • Frame: semi-rigid, removable, consists of a vertical metal plate of anatomical shape and a plastic panel, which ensure correct and even redistribution of weight, help maintain the correct position of the spine when walking, while maintaining the lightness of the entire structure.
  • Back: Thanks to the Air Convector Tech Back system, it is soft but well ventilated. Deep ventilation channels allow air to circulate between the back and the backpack. The rollers with soft polyurethane foam lining are covered with breathable mesh fabric.
  • Shoulder straps: Height adjustable, anatomically shaped with soft polyurethane foam lining, covered with breathable mesh fabric, have loops for fixing the hydration system tube.
  • Hip belt: non-removable, adjustable tension, with zipped pocket
  • Chest strap: removable, height adjustable with elastic insert.

Design features:

Air Convector Tech Back is a well-ventilated, ergonomic mesh backpack back. The polyurethane foam base in the form of high cushions is very soft, and at the same time provides high air permeability. Deep ventilation channels easily let fresh air through to the back and remove excess moisture. The frame is removable, so the lightweight backpack can be packed as a frameless one with an internal sleeping pad. The hip belt is also soft and made of similar materials.

Ice-axe holders (2) - ice axe holders are placed at the top and bottom of the mountaineering backpack's façade and, as a rule, are a combination of lower long loops or reinforced cords and upper elastic tightening cords with a lock or small ties on a Velcro textile fastener. Such holders allow you to securely fix ice axes and not load the interior of the backpack with them. If necessary, the holders can also be used to attach trekking poles. This backpack has two pairs of ice axe mounts combined with trekking pole mounts

Trekking poles holders (2) - holders for trekking poles are placed at the top and bottom of the façade of a trekking backpack and, as a rule, are a combination of lower loops and upper elastic tightening cords with a lock. Less often, the lower loops are replaced with the same tightening cords. Such holders allow you to securely fix trekking poles and not load the interior space of the backpack with them. This backpack has two pairs of fastenings for trekking poles, combined with fastenings for ice axes.

Rain cover - a protective rain cover can protect a backpack from getting wet during snow or rain. Such covers provide water resistance at a pressure of 10,000 m of water column. The cover covers the front and all side parts of the backpack and reliably protects against moisture penetration along the perimeter. The cover is hidden in a special pocket at the bottom of the backpack and, if necessary, can be removed completely

Compatible H2O Bag - this backpack is compatible and can be equipped with a branded Ferrino hydration system with a capacity of one, two or three liters, or any other drinking system of the corresponding capacity. The backpack has the necessary compartment for placing a drinking system, as well as all the necessary holes and clamps for fixing the drinking tube.
Front Access (Full) - a front entrance in the form of a semicircular zipper in the central part of the backpack provides access to the contents of the main compartment of the backpack. The full front entrance is very convenient for additional packing of the backpack. Also, in cases where the backpack is packed to the brim, using the front entrance you can quite easily get out any necessary thing (raincoat, sleeping bag) and at the same time all other things will not fall out and will remain in their place.

Materials:

  • Supertex® is a modern material with a 600D thread thickness and PU coating, which, due to its strength and water resistance, is widely used for car awnings, pool covers, tents, athletic mats, etc. After applying a load, the material retains its original shape without tearing or stretching, is easy to clean, does not fade from moisture and does not burn out in the sun.
  • Polyester Jaquard Weave 420D PU is a beautiful, durable and lightweight fabric with a voluminous small pattern, containing more than 24 complexly interwoven polyester threads of 420D thickness. The fabric is durable, resistant to abrasion and deformation, retains color well, is weakly affected by temperature changes and is not destroyed by ultraviolet radiation. PU impregnation makes the fabric waterproof.
  • Hypalon® - chlorosulfonated polyethylene. A long-life material patented by DuPont. It is exceptionally resistant to abrasion, tearing, scratching, UV radiation, low and high temperatures. It is used in backpack construction elements that are most often subject to stretching and are constantly in use.
  • Duraflex hardware - American company National Molding Corporation - the largest manufacturer of plastic fittings under the Duraflex brand, which is the standard for tourist equipment. Plastic fittings are made of durable polyamide 6.6, developed by Dupont. Products withstand significant mechanical and temperature loads and are almost eternal. This backpack is equipped with Duraflex fittings
