Description
Professional sport shooting requires high speed and accuracy, which not every optical sight can provide. The design features, quality of optics and complete set of Hawke Sidewinder sights are a high standard for both sports shooters and hunters shooting at long distances. These sights are designed for both high-precision air guns and powerful rifled rifles. Sidewinder sights are equipped with special rangefinder reticles with two-color illumination. They are also equipped with a side parallax adjustment mechanism controlled by a large snail wheel, a parallax adjustment distance indicator, a focus lock system, a locking system for making corrections to the drums, and a sunshade. The body of the sights is waterproof and nitrogen-filled, and the lens and eyepiece are securely closed with Flip-Up type covers supplied in the kit. All this allows the scope to be used in any weather conditions for a wide range of shooting disciplines and various hunting styles.

Many experts consider the optical characteristics of these sights to be unrivaled in this price category. All optical surfaces of the sight (achromatic objective lens, eyepiece, erector system) are coated with 18 layers of high-intensity violet-tinted antireflective coating. As a result, light transmission is close to ideal, providing a clear and contrasting image.
The shockproof housing is made in the form of a monolithic aluminum tube, in which all optical elements are securely fixed. The design copes well with both the multi-vector recoil of spring-piston pneumatics and the recoil of large-caliber rifled and smooth-bore firearms. The housing is covered with a double-sided matte black anodizing. The coating on the outside does not wear off and prevents scratches. On the inside, the coating diffuses light and does not allow glare and reflections to spread. The zoom ring has a tactilely convenient profiled knurling, due to which the process of changing the magnification becomes smooth and accurate. The housing is sealed, protected from water ingress and filled with dry nitrogen to prevent fogging of the optics from the inside due to temperature changes. The lens and eyepiece have a thread that allows you to attach additional accessories, such as a sunshade and Flip-Up type covers, included in the scope delivery set. The caps are screwed on using a special tool supplied in the kit and can also be installed over the protective hood.
The sight is equipped with a convenient side parallax adjustment system SF (Side Focus) at a distance from 10 yards (9 meters) to infinity. The sight can be used both with a large 50-mm parallax adjustment wheel (the so-called snail) for sport shooting, and without it, adjusting the parallax with a standard drum on the body when shooting on a hunt. The parallax adjustment wheel has a rubber insert, with the help of which it fits tightly on the adjustment drum. For accurate, fast and convenient parallax adjustment, the sight is equipped with a special pointer. The pointer is fixed on the sight tube in a position between the eyepiece and the adjustment drums, indicating the current parallax adjustment distance. For quick focusing on the target, a Fast Focus focusing system is provided on the eyepiece. A special locking mechanism blocks the focusing ring, preventing accidental shifting of the setting.
The sight's vertical and horizontal adjustment drums are open, designed according to a tactical scheme, and have a division value of 0.25 MOA. This tactical design significantly simplifies the introduction of necessary adjustments during shooting, which is especially important for sport shooting, high-speed shooting or long-range shooting. In one full turn of the drum, the aiming point is adjusted by 15 MOA in the required direction. The adjustment drums are equipped with a special beryllium spring, which prevents the aiming grid from "drifting". The drums have a locking system that prevents the settings from shifting. It is enough to raise or lower the drum to unlock or lock it. The design also provides the ability to calibrate the drums to fix the initial point of adjustment at the "zero" mark.
20x 1/2 Mil Dot IR - a convenient universal grid for the most accurate aiming at various distances. The main difference from the usual Mil Dot aiming mark is that there are additional intersections marking half a mil. All components of this grid have strictly regulated dimensions, the distances between all elements are also regulated. Thanks to this, it is not a problem to determine the distance to the target or the size of the target, taking the correct windage correction and determining the trajectory of the bullet. This 1/2 Mil Dot is correct at 20x magnification. For other magnifications, the linear and angular dimensions are determined by interpolation or special tables. A free ballistic calculator will allow you to customize the grid for a specific weapon and type of projectile.
You can visually evaluate the ease of use of the aiming reticle directly on the manufacturer's website.
A significant advantage is that the grid is engraved on a glass plate. This provides almost 100% protection of the grid from the destructive effect of multi-vector recoil of spring-piston pneumatics. In addition, all elements of the grid are thin enough and do not block the target.
An important point is the presence of a two-color illumination of the aiming grid. The red illumination is brighter and is more convenient to use in the daytime and evening. At night, the green color, which is less irritating to the eyes, provides clear contours of the aiming mark and does not illuminate the plane of observation. Each of the colors has 5 degrees of brightness.
