Description
Bimetallic thermostat KST118/ 228 10A for Clatronic electric ovens, Vimar, Skina, and Ventolux VB 62 TC electric stoves.
Key Specifications:
- Temperature range: up to 250℃
- Rated load current: 10A
- Integrated mounting
- Operating principle: bimetallic plate
- Feature: the response temperature threshold is adjustable via an internal micro-screw for calibration to your equipment
Available versions: with 3 or 4 insulators (2 or 3 terminals)
Comparing KST118 thermostats: 3 vs 4 insulators
The main parameters of the KST118 series thermostats (10A, T250) are identical in terms of maximum current and operating temperature; however, the number of ceramic ring insulators determines their internal contact group and functional purpose.
| Feature | Thermostat with 3 insulators | Thermostat with 4 insulators |
|---|---|---|
| Contact group type | SPST (Single Pole, Single Throw) — single-pole, single-throw. | SPDT (Single Pole, Double Throw) — single-pole, double-throw (changeover). |
| Number of terminals | 2 terminals. | 3 terminals. |
| Operating principle | Standard circuit breaking when the set temperature is reached (On / Off). | Circuit switching: when heated, it breaks one circuit and simultaneously closes another. |
| Purpose of the additional insulator | — | The fourth dielectric disk isolates the additional contact plate. |
| Typical application | Simple control of a heating element (heating element) in electric stoves, roasters, and irons. | Heating element control with simultaneous switching to a signal (ready light) or an additional mode. |
Detailed model description
1. Thermostat with 3 ceramic insulators
Features a standard design with three insulating disks providing isolation between the body and the two contacts:
- Insulator 1: separates the mounting metal plate/body from the upper contact.
- Insulator 2: separates the upper moving and lower fixed contacts.
- Insulator 3: isolates the lower contact from the rivet and the lower pressure plate.
2. Thermostat with 4 ceramic insulators
The design is supplemented with a fourth ceramic disk to create an isolated third connection group:
- Allows for the installation of an additional terminal and a changeover contact.
- Provides physical isolation between the normally closed (NC) and normally open (NO) contacts.
Replacement and repair recommendation
When selecting a spare part for a stove or household appliance, the following rule should be followed:
- Thermostats are not fully interchangeable without circuit modification.
- If the replaced thermostat had 2 wires and 3 insulators, install a similar one with 3 insulators.
- If 3 wires were used in the circuit, replacing it with a 3-insulator thermostat will result in a loss of functionality (for example, the heating ready indicator will stop lighting up).
