Description
Original Makita HR 5001C rotary hammer cylinder (323773-1)
Makita rotary hammers use an electro-pneumatic impact mechanism. The piston cylinder works as follows:
-
Creating compression: A piston moves inside this cylinder, which drives the floating striker (rammer).
-
Energy transfer: An "air cushion" is formed between the piston and the striker. When the piston moves forward, compressed air pushes the striker, which in turn hits the drill bit shank.
-
Mode switching: In some Makita models, this cylinder is also involved in the impact cutout mechanism when switching to "drilling only" mode.
