Description
Stihl saw chain with 62 links for gas and electric chainsaws
The RS abbreviation stands for Rapid Super. This is a type of cutter that professionals call "Full Chisel".
If you look at the chain tooth from the end, its working angle is sharp and square (resembling the letter "L"). Unlike rounded chains (RM — Rapid Micro), RS is designed for maximum aggressive and fast cutting.
Key RS features:
- High performance: This is the fastest chain for cutting clean wood.
- Clean cut: Thanks to the tooth geometry, fibers are cut cleanly, like with a razor.
- Sensitivity to dirt: This is the "downside" of this series. If the chain hits soil or sand, the sharp corner will dull instantly.
- Sharpening difficulty: Due to the strict square angle, sharpening requires more precision than with semi-chisel chains.
- 62 links: Total chain length (counting the internal drive links that fit into the bar groove).
- 31 teeth: Number of cutting elements (usually exactly half the number of links).
- 3/8" pitch: Distance between rivets. This is the most popular standard for homeowner and semi-professional saws.
- 1.3 mm: Drive link thickness (the width of your guide bar groove).
