The name " hack machine " comes from the English word hack squat - this is a special type of squat, where the body moves along a given trajectory, and the back rests on an inclined platform. The term hack squat appeared at the beginning of the 20th century. It was introduced by strongman George Hackenschmidt , who invented this type of squat - initially without a machine, just with a barbell behind the legs. Later, for convenience, a special simulator was created, which was called hack machine - in honor of his surname.
