Prominar XD (Extra Low Dispersion) is a special grade of low dispersion optical glass manufactured by Kowa for binocular lenses and spotting scopes. Kowa Repelling (KR) Coating is a highly functional coating, specially formulated for Kowa binoculars, which is applied to the outer sides of lenses, resists stains and is also hydrophobic. The KR coating protects the lenses from any kind of water (rain, snow, fog, breezes or heavy water), as well as from water deposited near the water. It is enough to simply shake the binoculars vigorously after drying, and drops of water will be removed from the outer surface of the lenses. This coating has sufficient hardness and resists the appearance of sagging marks with mechanical injection of low to medium force.
