Description
The Stiga Clipper CR racket base is a classic attacking base, well known to many generations of players, but with a modern upgrade. It is built on the legendary 7-layer all-wood Clipper construction, where the key role is played by CR (Crystalized) technology - a special heat treatment of the outer layers. CR-treatment makes the surface a little harder and faster, without breaking the "wooden" character of the base. In the game, this is felt as a more direct, clear rebound and better stability on fast hits, especially in the first pace and on counterattacks. The base holds the block well and allows you to confidently play power topspin without carbon.
The Stiga Clipper CR is aimed at attacking players who want maximum speed from a blade without the sudden switch to composite materials. It is an option for those who value control, mass and "pure" feedback, but need the extra pace in today's fast-paced game.
Stiga Clipper is not just a foundation, but an entire era, so the list of famous players it has is solid and very indicative. The most famous example, Liu Guoliang 1996 Olympic champion, multiple world champion, and later legendary coach of the Chinese national team. During his playing years, he played with the Stiga Clipper in combination with short spikes. It was with the Clipper that he showed that a 7-ply wooden base can be deadly effective even at the highest level.
Another high-profile example is Wang Tao, the world doubles champion. He also played Clipper in a classic Chinese attacking style with an emphasis on speed and first tempo.
In addition to the Chinese school, the Stiga Clipper was actively used by: top players from Sweden in the 80s and 90s (the era of the “Swedish miracle”), many European professionals who preferred pure wood without carbon, and modern club and semi-professional players who fundamentally avoid composites.
The Stiga Clipper was first released in 1981 and has since sold over a million units. Developed in close collaboration with the Chinese national team.
